Why did you join Rough-Fit?
My life was losing its balance. I had been given a new position and responsibilities at work, and as a result I was putting in longer hours, sleeping less and eating more junk food to deal with the stress. Exercise and sleep fell by the wayside, my mood and energy dropped, and my weight soared.
What have you accomplished with Rough-Fit?
I was athletic in high school and enjoyed skiing and hiking, but like many people, I stopped exercising when I entered the “real world.” My goal was simply to lose some weight and get back in shape. I was amazed at how quickly I saw results. By the third week with Rough-Fit I noticed that I was stronger, lighter and more balanced when skiing and able to take on more challenging runs. I have lost 10 pounds and have run several marathons. I definitely have more energy from eating better and from all the endorphins rushing through my body. As a result I’m better able to deal with the demands of work and balance it with the other aspects of my life.
How has Rough-Fit changed your life?
I’m a serious chocoholic! If I had been told I HAD to give up chocolate, I probably would have run as far away as possible. Now I eat more salads and fruits, and I even snack on baby carrots. I’ve learned that, as with all things, the key is balance and moderation, not deprivation.
I’ve always been an optimist about life, but it seems that now I’m even more excited about each day. There are always mountains to be climbed and more challenging ski runs to conquer. There's even the possibility of adventure racing....I see Rough-Fit providing not just the workouts to prepare me, but also the encouragement, the push and the support in whatever endeavor I choose.

Why did you join Rough-Fit?
My neighbor had talked to me about working out, but I told her I would never be able to get up that early. Then she gave me some Rough-Fit sessions as a Christmas gift. My main goal was to find a program that would keep me physically fit, that didn’t interfere with my work schedule and that I would attend regularly.
What have you accomplished with Rough-Fit?
For me the most challenging part of the program is just getting up and getting there. But I’ve learned that my day goes much better if I exercise first. Before joining Rough-Fit I jogged and occasionally worked out at a women’s gym, but nothing consistent. Now I enjoy snowboarding and cross country skiing and Rough-Fit….. I have lost weight and lowered my body fat by 2 percentage points. While I’ve always been fairly fit, I could never do a ‘men’s push-up’ – at the last Rough-Fit evaluation I did 26. I stand straighter and am definitely stronger.
How has Rough-Fit changed your life?
Although I have never been a morning person, it was very easy to stay committed to Rough-Fit after the first few sessions. I just lay out my clothes the night before and leave the house without thinking about sleeping in. If I didn’t go I would miss seeing the other members. The only thing I’m losing is sleep. There are always work emergencies during the day, or late meetings at night that used to interfere with my getting regular exercise. Rough-Fit offers me a variety and a schedule that works for me.

Why did you join Rough-Fit?
I heard about Rough-Fit through the City of Tustin Parks & Recreation Department. I had lost weight as part of my New Years resolution and had started a weight training program. I knew I needed more exercise, especially cardio. My goal was to lose weight and increase my cardio.
What have you accomplished with Rough-Fit?
I’ve lost 42 lbs (so far). I am most proud of my cardio improvement. Before joining Rough-Fit, I wasn’t able to walk a lap; now I am running them. I ran my first 5K and was happy with my finish. I can do pushups, and my attitude about the whole adventure has changed.
How has Rough-Fit changed your life?
Before joining Rough-Fit, I had no stamina, no strength and the worst part was no desire. I absolutely hated anything that involved working out. I am single now (hello single guys), I eat healthier, I like to exercise and do it 4 or 5 days a week. Fitness is a lifestyle. I cannot imagine ever stopping this.

Why did you join Rough-Fit?
I had back surgery in November 2003 for a severe herniated disc and had chronic lower back pain for several years. My doctors told me to alleviate the back pain I needed to strengthen my core muscles. But I had no idea where to begin. After meeting Lindsey, I felt that the Rough-Fit philosophy was something I could agree with and work with.
What have you accomplished with Rough-Fit?
Not only did I reach my goal weight, I worked out through my third pregnancy, had the baby, then got back to my goal weight AGAIN. With my chronic back problems, I never thought I would be able to run. But now that I have strengthened my core, I have completed several races.
How has Rough-Fit changed your life?
I went into this program knowing it was going to take a long time for me to get a strong core (and therefore less back pain). I was expecting an 18-month program. Now I know I want to exercise regularly for life. I know now that I can’t just get a strong core and then stop working on it. It’s something that needs to be maintained by working on those muscles constantly. Rough-Fit is the program that can help me achieve that.

Why did you join Rough-Fit?
My main goal was to lose weight. I gained so much from my two pregnancies and after my lifestyle change—getting married, changing jobs, etc. I was uncomfortable and felt really unhealthy. I’ m predisposed to gain most of my weight in my abdomen. So my focus was on getting rid of the love handles.
What have you accomplished with Rough-Fit?
I have learned to eat healthier and have lost 10 pounds. Now I have to keep it off and lose the next 5 to 10 pounds… one pound at a time. Writing down what I consume every day has been key for me in eating healthfully.
How has Rough-Fit changed your life?
I have fibromyalgia, which affects the body psychologically and physiologically. Since starting Rough-Fit, I have been able to give up all but one of my medications. The regular, consistent exercise, eating healthy, nutritious food, logging it in my journal and getting more rest have truly impacted every aspect of my life. I have more energy, I feel so much better about myself, too. I don’t want to give up my healthy lifestyle. I want to be a good example for my kids.

Why did you join Rough-Fit?
My parents told me a family friend (Lindsey) was starting a workout program, and she needed people to ‘try it out.’ My original goal was to simply lose weight.
What have you accomplished with Rough-Fit?
I have seen great improvements in my fitness level and have watched as others in the class improved and excelled. I can run for 30 minutes, and I work out 4 to 7 times a week, every week, without fail. I have lost a total of 20 lbs over a year and a half.
How has Rough-Fit changed your life?
My self esteem has improved, I feel better about the way I look, I’m not lazy anymore, and I think of myself as strong and active. When you think about yourself in that way, you are! The main thing is that I have learned to love exercise, and even when I can’t make the class because of my student schedule, I go for a jog or do a workout video.

What motivated you to join Rough-Fit?
A shoulder injury and surgery put my intense boxing training regimen on hold for several months. I started to panic and fear that I would gain a ton of weight and lose all of the endurance I had developed. That’s when I discovered Rough-Fit. One conversation with Lindsey and I was sold. I knew that the diversity would keep me interested, I would have someone to motivate me, and the goal setting and evaluations would not only keep me on track, but make me aware of my accomplishments.
What have you accomplished with Rough-Fit?
I have improved my running speed and distance. I have also learned that fitness is much more than burning calories and pushing yourself to the point of being sick: it’s a spiritual adventure. I still take my boxing classes and love them as much as ever, but I have a much stronger foundation and injuries are a rarity.
How has Rough-Fit changed your life?
I have always been obsessed with counting calories and eliminating carbs from my diet, thus cheating myself from nutrition. By setting goals and holding myself accountable, I now eat balanced, nutritious meals. Rough-Fit has impacted my inner strength and ability to handle stress greatly. It has also increased my awareness of my entire body and how it functions.

Why did you come to Rough-Fit?
I travelled extensively for my job, and jetlag affected me badly – especially when travelling internationally. I felt that being fitter and in better shape would help, and I really wanted to improve the overall quality of my life. I used to run extensively when I was much younger (25+ years ago), but hadn’t done any exercise for an extended period of time. I would jump on a treadmill every 3 months for 10 minutes, but would not be able to walk for a week after that.
What have you accomplished with Rough-Fit?
In addition to becoming a runner, other parts of my life have improved as well. I really enjoy working out outdoors with a group—it’s incredible how much you can push yourself if other people are `suffering’ with you. The workouts are effective because it is a total body workout. I feel like even the most expensive gyms do not provide what Rough-Fit gives you.
How has Rough-Fit changed your life?
My golf game has improved significantly because of greater flexibility, and I wake up in the morning now with a much clearer head and a lot more energy. I also find that jetlag doesn’t affect me that badly anymore. I also learned that the more calories you burn, the more beer you can drink without gaining weight ;-) On a serious note, I find that I eat healthier when I’m attending Rough-Fit, so the overall balance is good.

Why did you join Rough-Fit?
About 2 months after my daughter was born, a flyer for Rough-Fit was left at my front door. My goal was to lose weight and fit back into my pre-pregnancy clothes before returning to work.
What have you accomplished with Rough-Fit?
When I started with Rough-Fit, I could run/walk a mile and a half in 16 minutes or so. Today my time is improved to under 12 minutes. I can do 41 full pushups in a minute and I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight.
How has Rough-Fit changed your life?
I am more aware of what good nutrition is. I shop at Whole Foods and buy organic foods when I can. When I first started Rough-Fit, I never stuck with anything very long, so I would say the biggest difference is the longevity in my exercise regimen. My long-term goals are to maintain a healthy weight and to keep exercise as a foundation for my life. I would like my daughter to grow up with exercise as a part of her life—not something she has to learn to do as an adult.

Why did you join Rough-Fit?
I was surfing the internet for a workout that was in a group format and outside and stumbled upon Rough-Fit. After the first phone call and workout, I could tell that the philosophy, professionalism and challenging workouts were exactly what I was seeking. My goal was to get into a regular workout routine and stick to it, while at the same time have fun, blow off some stress and feel stronger.
What have you accomplished with Rough-Fit?
I am stronger, run faster with more ease (although I'll never say it is easy!) and have learned that it is important to train the whole body and constantly challenge it.
How has Rough-Fit changed your life?
I actually look forward to working out and seeing my improvements. Rough-Fit is my daily living. Taking care of my health and body, so I can live long and strong, is my main goal.

Why did you join Rough-Fit?
I learned about Rough-Fit from someone who was in the program; I was impressed at how she looked and how she said she felt. I wanted to lose weight but lacked the motivation. I hoped Rough-Fit would provide that motivation. Once I started with Rough-Fit, I realized that what I really wanted to do was to get healthier, and losing weight was only part of that goal.
What have you accomplished with Rough-Fit?
I have lost almost 10 pounds and almost 3% body fat. Best of all, I have a waist again and have dropped my pant size. I ran a 5K--when I started, I couldn’t even run 100 yards.
How has Rough-Fit changed your life?
I feel better, have more energy, am stronger. I’m able to do the fun stuff (skiing and diving) better and for longer, and I eat much better. I track my eating; I am honest in my log, even if I have a bad day. I just get refocused the next day. I don’t have the desire to eat junk (at least as often), and I love when my friends notice the difference. I have made exercise a part of my daily life. I even exercised while on a business trip recently, something I would never have done before.
